How do I go about getting started to see if I am a candidate for an implant(s)?

All implant candidates need to have an implant evaluation and dental examination performed by one of our oral surgeons. At that time, our doctor will discuss possible treatment options and the implant procedure; and will take any x-rays that he feels are necessary to determine the best treatment for you. He/she will answer any questions and introduce you to the implant process. Following your evaluation, you will be sent a folder containing your treatment plan, estimate, and additional implant information, as well as our financial policy for implant patients. Once this has been received you are encouraged to call the Implant Center staff with any questions and to schedule your procedure if you decide to proceed with the recommended treatment.

What is the length of time that it takes from the initial evaluation through the final placing of my tooth?

It may take a few weeks from the time of your evaluation until you receive an initial Treatment and Estimate Plan, then once the implant is placed, the implant sits for approximately 3- 6 months. The implant is then uncovered and an abutment (temporary or permanent) is placed. The gum tissue then needs to heal for approximately 2-3 weeks. The final step is to see your general dentist and he/she makes the temporary and final prosthesis which can take approximately 2-4 weeks.

How successful are implants?

Studies show that implants can last 20 or more years. Chance of failure/infection is very low (about 3%).

Will my dental insurance pay for the implants?

Your insurance company may offer limited or no coverage at all for the dental implant surgery. Our staff will be happy to verify such coverage and, if indicated, will send in a predetermination of benefits to your insurance company.

How much do dental implants cost?

All prospective implant patients need to be seen for an initial evaluation by one of our surgeons. There is an evaluation fee for this service. This visit allows your doctor to adequately plan your course of treatment. The surgeon will then select the type of implant and the proper procedures to be done. A proposed treatment plan and estimate of fees will be calculated and mailed to you by the Implant Center Staff. Our fees are effective for one year from the date that the estimate is given.
