At Commonwealth Oral & Facial Surgery, our doctors and staff are dedicated to making implant dentistry easier for our patients and restorative doctors. Our Implant Center is located within our Patterson Avenue Office in Richmond, Virginia. Our Implant Center is the first and only private surgical and teaching facility in Central Virginia developed solely for the delivery of dental implant services. We have a separate "Implant Center" scheduling and surgical staff dedicated to making our patients’ experience as smooth and pleasant as possible while interacting with restorative doctors to facilitate the restorative process.

About Dental Implants

Dental implants are changing the way people live. They are designed to provide a foundation for replacement teeth which look, feel and function like natural teeth. The person who has lost teeth regains the ability to eat virtually anything and can smile with confidence, knowing that their teeth appear natural. Implants also help preserve facial structure, preventing the bone deterioration which occurs when teeth are missing.

The implants themselves are tiny titanium posts which are surgically placed into the jawbone where the teeth are missing. These metal anchors act as root substitutes. The bone bonds with the titanium, creating a strong foundation for artificial teeth. Small posts are then attached to the implant which protrudes through the gums. These posts provide stable anchors for artificial replacement teeth.
